Is Target open on Juneteenth?
Juneteenth is official on June 19 (hence the name) but because it falls on Sunday, it’s being observed on June 20 this year. It’s only the second year that this holiday has been recognized federally. Because of that, it causes a lot of confusion about who businesses’ will be open or close and how they will recognize the important day.

Target Juneteenth hours
Target is one of those businesses you can count on to be open pretty much year-round. In fact, the only day that Target closed is Christmas Day. But there might be some adjusted hours so be sure to check your local store before heading over.
What is Juneteenth?
According to History.com, Juneteenth is short for June 19, which was when “federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed.” This is a significant day in American history as “the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.” It was made a federal holiday in 2021.
