The UNLV Rebels brought back the slot machine for their turnover celebrations, and it is still fantastic.
The college football season has officially started with Week 0. That means Saturdays from here on out will be occupied solely for football viewing purposes. That means there will be plenty of celebrations, whether that is after scoring a touchdown, picking up a first down, or recording a turnover.
Speaking of turnovers, the UNLV Rebels brought back their unique turnover celebration. After linebacker Austin Ajiake recorded an interception in the first half, he and the rest of his teammates went over to the far sideline, and he took a seat in front of a slot machine. He pulled the lever, and he got the three “Rebel” logos to hit the jackpot.
UNLV Rebels bring back the slot machine turnover celebration
Sure, a turnover chain is cool and all. But the Rebels have a slot machine!
It was a rather easy day at the office (aka Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas) for the Rebels, as they cruised to a 52-21 victory.
Sophomore quarterback Doug Brumfield had a near-flawless performance, as he completed 21-of-25 pass attempts for 356 yards and four touchdowns. Junior running back Courtney Reese led the team in rushing with 69 yards on six carries, which was mostly picked up on a 47-yard run. Yet, it was junior running back Aidan Robbins who led in rushing touchdowns with two while running for 35 yards on 10 carries.
UNLV will look to get to a 2-0 start with a win over California on Sept. 10.
