Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. won his third professional bout by scary round 1 KO. Marco Antonio Canedo left the ring under his own power.

Heavyweight boxer Richard Torrez Jr. is used to delivering KO performances, but his latest KO left fans at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, OK, and those watching at home on ESPN holding their breath.

Torrez (3-0, 3 KOs) brought a quick end to Marco Antonio Candeo’s night on the undercard of the Richard Commey vs. Jose Pedraza main event. The 2020 Olympic silver medalist delivered a highlight KO, but it was a scary scene for several minutes.

Most expected Torrez to beat Canedo (4-3, 2 KOs), but the way he did it was frighteningly stunning. Torrez leveled Candeo for the first time with a combination. He landed a punch when Canedo was down, but Canedo was able to get up.

Canedo might have wanted to stay down.

With Canedo hurt, Torrez moved in to finish the fight. He caught Canedo on the chin with two left hands and hit Canedo with a right on the way down.

Canedo hit the canvas hard and landed on his face. He remained motionless for several minutes but came to and left the ring on his own but was on the way to the hospital for precaution.

Torrez remained on one knee while medical staff attended to Candeo. Fortunately, Candeo appears to be fine, but it was a vicious end to a very short fight.
